I think network effects cannot be had without a bit of correlation. As Li Lu repeatedly argues, if you ignore the Iron Law of Civilization 3.0 you will be miserable. You have to pick between uncorrelation (redundant but isolated) and network effect. It also means redundancy via uncorrelation can never be perfect. On the bright side, ‘mono-culture’ via globalization is not without its merit.
